The car industry is undergoing major transformation. Technology is evolving at lightning speed, mobility preferences are shifting, and sustainability is higher on the agenda than ever before. The National Automotive Congress 2025 delivered exactly what the industry needs right now: a day full of conversations, insights, and new connections.
Panel discussion on sustainable logistics
As a gold partner, we were prominently present at NAC 2025. Thanks to our well-placed food court, visitors easily found their way to us. Together with colleagues Mark, Ilias, Michiel, Steven, Maarten, Sam, and Karsten, we actively participated in panels, discussions, and networking opportunities. A key moment for us was organizing our own panel discussion on smart, sustainable logistics.
On stage, alongside host Rens de Jong, were Reinaldo Pallast from Baan Twente, Merijn Bekkernens from Cars24, and our very own Mark Rotteveel representing TransConnect. With yellow and green Tony’s Chocolonely bars placed on each chair, the audience could vote on statements shown on the massive screen. When asked “I can grow faster with cross-border trading in Europe” and “Idle days significantly impact my profit margins”, the crowd overwhelmingly waved the green bar (yes). But when posed with “I arrange my car transports via email and phone”, the audience was evenly split. Clearly, there’s still a lot of work to do in digitizing car transport processes.
“By combining technology with a personal approach, we make logistics more predictable, efficient, and sustainable.” – Mark Rotteveel, CCO TransConnect
Glimpses of the future: Jonathan Turpin on the used car market in 2030
The parallel session by Jonathan Turpin drew a large crowd – and for good reason. As co-owner of AIM Group and a global analyst of the used car market, Turpin brought a sharp perspective on what’s ahead.
He projected robust growth in the used car market over the next ten years, driven by technological innovation, subscription models, and evolving ownership habits. Digitization will be key. Not necessarily in the form of fully online car sales, but rather a ‘click and collect’ model – customers explore online, then collect in person. A hybrid approach where convenience and trust meet.
AI: Not a replacement, but an enrichment
According to Turpin, Artificial Intelligence is no longer on the sidelines. We’re on the brink of a breakthrough, one that will be felt across vehicle transport. From smarter admin and real-time inventory management to personalized communication – AI opens the door to more agility, lower costs, and stronger competitive advantage. Investing in AI today creates space for growth and brings more clarity and calm into daily operations.
What does this mean for car businesses?
It’s about having the courage to change, thinking along with your partners, and using your resources smartly to serve your customers better. Digital tools and AI are powerful – but only valuable when tied to a clear vision and people-first processes.
For car companies, this means:
Staying flexible in supply and sourcing
Offering a hybrid customer experience – both digital and personal
Seeing logistics not as a burden, but as a unique advantage
Fortunately, that’s exactly where our strength lies.
Building the future of mobility together
We look back with pride on a day full of connection and deep insights. The congress confirmed that the used car market is undergoing major change – but also that we can shape that future together. With committed partners, with smart technology, and above all, with a clear vision.
Curious how we can help prepare your business for the future of mobility? We’d love to talk.
