When Denmark’s largest Toyota dealer, Via Biler, set out to expand its export operations, one bottleneck immediately stood out: arranging international car transport. The process was slow, opaque, and difficult to scale. That changed when the company adopted TransConnect, a platform that has since helped Via Biler grow its export volume from around 100 transports a year to nearly 800.

Previously, we didn’t really offer transport services to our customers. We just had a phone number for one transport company,” recalls Oscar Ambrosius Kranz, Export Manager at Via Biler. “Since we started working with TransConnect, that number has grown to around 700–800 a year.

Via Biler operates across 15 branches in Denmark, representing Toyota, Volvo, and Hertz Car Rental. Its Hertz fleet alone fluctuates between 1,000 and 1,800 vehicles at any given time.

As Export Manager, Kranz oversees all outbound vehicle flows. From the company’s Toyota stock to ex-Hertz cars destined for buyers in Germany, the Netherlands, France, and northern Europe.

With exports growing, the company needed a transport solution that was fast, predictable and professional, without increasing administrative workload.

The Challenge: Slow communication and poor visibility

 

Before TransConnect, arranging transport required manual coordination and guesswork.

It took a lot of time to request prices. Sometimes chauffeurs arrived unexpectedly or after opening hours, and we had very limited visibility on which cars were on which truck,” Kranz says.

The lack of predictability also slowed down internal logistics. Vehicles and keys often had to be located when drivers arrived, leading to hour-long handovers.

Export growth simply wasn’t scalable with that system.

TransConnect changed the dynamic almost immediately.

Kranz first discovered the platform through a single transport notification. “The information was very clear, and I was impressed. I looked you up online, called you, and we started working together almost immediately,” he says.

Operational impact: Faster handover, stronger customer communication

The change was felt both inside and outside the organisation.

Internally, the planning tool ensures every department knows exactly what is happening and when.

Our logistics manager automatically receives an email once the order is planned and prepares the cars and keys in advance. Previously the handover sometimes took an hour. Now everything is ready one or two days before pickup.

Externally, customers receive more accurate information, strengthening trust.

I can tell them exactly when their cars will be collected and the expected delivery time,” Kranz notes.

A simple, intuitive platform that works at scale

Even during peak periods – when Via Biler might ship five full truckloads in a single day – the platform stays fast and frictionless.

It’s very simple and intuitive. All you need is the pickup address, delivery address and VIN numbers. That’s it.

Kranz emphasises that the combination of technology and people is what sets TransConnect apart:

The Result: Reliable European exports, ready for the next stage of growth

Via Biler continues to use local carriers for urgent domestic transports, but for international shipments the company sees TransConnect as its long-term partner.
