Paperless car transport: presentation of the eCMR pilot program

In the ever-changing world of logistics and transportation, innovation is always on the move. At TransConnect, we're constantly pushing the boundaries to make car transport smarter, more efficient and more reliable. Our latest project? The electronic waybill for road transport, or eCMR. Launched on April 15, 2024, our pilot program aims to revolutionize the way we manage car transport, bringing a multitude of benefits to our valued industry partners.

Digital CMR

So, what exactly is the eCMR and why is it a game-changer for car carriers? Simply put, the eCMR is the digital evolution of the traditional CMR note, an essential document in road transport that describes the contract of carriage and serves as a receipt for the goods shipped. In the car transport sector, where accountability and efficiency are crucial, eCMR offers a simplified solution to the challenges posed by traditional paperwork.

Eliminate the challenges posed by traditional red tape

One of the main problems with the current CMR is its tendency to be difficult to read, or even incomplete. Vital information, such as photos of the vehicle being transported, is often missing, exposing parties to disputes and uncertainty. This lack of concrete evidence can have serious repercussions, particularly when it comes to determining liability for damage. eCMR eliminates these uncertainties by digitizing the process, providing clear and comprehensive records accessible at the touch of a button.

Improved efficiency and precision

The benefits of eCMR are many, but perhaps the most important is improved efficiency and accuracy. Gone are the days of drowning in paperwork and facing the risk of errors or lost documents. With eCMR, carriers can benefit from faster processing, instant data capture and seamless sharing of consignment notes, while reducing the risk of human error. What’s more, our integrated system ensures that updates are automatically synchronized, enabling real-time tracking and reporting of shipment status. This helps you to improve efficiency and accuracy, with the added bonus of increased value for your customers, as you are able to provide better data at any desired time.

Refine process for maximum value

In our pilot program, which began on April 15 and runs until the end of May, we are working in partnership with selected transport companies on the route between Germany and the Netherlands. This hands-on approach enables us to identify the benefits and challenges of implementing eCMR in practice, ensuring that we can fine-tune our processes to deliver maximum value to our partners.
